Listing Mistakes on Facebook Marketplace for Your Retail Store
Refurbsy Team
We analyzed Facebook Marketplace listings across thousands of retail stores on Refurbsy. The same five mistakes appear everywhere — and each one has a fast fix.
1. Dark, cluttered photos
Buyers scroll past listings where the item blends into a warehouse background. Shoot against a clear wall, lights on, and show every angle that matters. Photos taken through Refurbsy are automatically brightened and cropped.
2. Model number buried (or missing)
Serious buyers search by model number. If it’s not in your title or first line, you’re invisible to your highest-intent traffic.
3. No dimensions
“Will it fit?” is the #1 pre-sale question. Listing width, height and depth up front removes the biggest hesitation — and cuts your message volume in half.
4. Vague condition notes
“Works great” convinces no one. Specific beats general: “New part installed June 2026, small scuff on left panel (pictured).” Honesty converts.
5. One marketplace only
The buyer for that lightly-marked-but-perfect item might be on the platform you skipped. Cross-post everything; let software keep quantities in sync so you never double-sell.
Fix these five and most stores see conversion lift within a week — no ad spend required.
